The Major Design Project is an engagement with the city in the form of proposed tectonic adaptions to a range of selected city typologies, with the intention to make the spaces more liveable for people.
The design process is driven by an interest in living things, viewing the natural biological world as well as written language as parallel interests where change, growth and evolution occur organically. Within the MDP, a Lexicon is created: terms for architects made from elements of the natural world. In the project, the Lexicon as a material informs my process of adapting the city typologies to create a healthier urban context.
The architecture of the project will be spatially sited within Ponte. Ponte is being used as a metaphor for the city as the spatial typologies within Ponte refer to those typologies within with the city.
The project is realised as an architectural design proposition in the form of four tectonic proposals within four different typologies in Ponte, each unique in program and performance.
